An Evening at Matgalne

Last tuesday I was invited to a Food Bloggers Night and it was hosted by Matgalne.
I met new people which was really cool but before anything else I just wanted to say the food was pretty good. The owners of Matgalne were very accommodating and boy, they whipped up a feast!

This quaint, korean restaurant in Makati sure feels homey, like an outtake from a koreanovela! It sure did give the whole dining experience a great feel. Surrounded by meat crackling on a grill and korean soul food like kimchi and Jap Chae, I was not one to complain.

Miyeok Guk
Dakdoritang
First up to come on the table was these two dishes. Mrs. Park, the owner was very kind to explain some dishes and what intrigued me was the Miyeok Guk. She said in Korea, mothers who have just given birth will eat this soup for about a month because of its nutrition value it helps the mother create breast milk and cleanses the blood! I've been reading a lot of things online saying that seaweed soup is usually called mother soup, I guess that explains it!

Dakdoritang is a kind of chicken stew that's quite spicy, i love how Mrs. Park explained what it was she said it's like adobo but not adobo!" however, it doesn't taste like adobo at all, more of a curry vibe- caldereta mash up. I quite liked it!

My apologies if some pictures that come up don't have names, I totally forgot what they were called!

Samgyeopsal

As soon as we slurped our soups and chowed on our chicken, some bright servers came up to our table and ignited our grills, not long enough the raw meat just came in like it was a marathon!

Shout out to my new friend and foodie Marianne working that grill!
pork belly cuts, thin slices of beef, it was just pouring with meat! So we I thought it was best to check out the buffet area and get some sides to absorb the meat sweats I'll be obtaining in the long run..

Buffet area was sweet and clean. White with a hint of plastic flowers that didn't come off as tacky. I felt like I was Vivian in a scene where she just holds a bowl of rice with kimchi in one hand and a big spoon in the other and eating to her hearts content. Yes I do watch too much koreanovelas!

Jeeyookbookeum
This was one of my favourites! It this pork with traditional Korean sauce with veggies and sesame seeds for garnish! I really enjoyed it!!

some Korean sides. You know its authentic theres so much to choose from!

Plastic flowers like these just makes the sterile white buffet area a bit homey.

just some leafy greens to wipe off the meat sweats.

Half of the buffet spread.
Kimchi

I certainly enjoyed their Kimchi. I am such a Kimchi lover I just had to send the compliments to Mrs. Park and her very well made kimchi. The spiciness just rendered enough heat to pack a punch yet still having that cabbage essence. You know its the real deal people!

I had like 3 saucers of this. delicious!

Sauces and condiments. You just have to.
our heavy dinner ended with this Ice Cream sandwich that they don't sell however! you can pop across the street and buy it there!

Still if you are craving something sweet you can just have some of there sweet sweet potato cover with caramel or their version of our kamotecue!
All in all the dining experience is great! I also enjoyed meeting new people which was so fun to talk with. It was a nice evening.

I am not the usual one who gets invited to something special but if I do I always feel all giddy and important. So thank you for inviting me Matgalne, free or not I enjoyed the food so  I recommend you give it a try!

their price is a lot more cheaper than the regular korean bbq grills out there and I just learned they have this social media thing that if you Facebook, tweet and instagram a photo of the food that youre eating there and use the hashtag #weloveMatgalne , just show the pic that you posted before paying and you get 10 percent off! Really affordable price plus 10% off thats a knock out of a park!

I will definitely go back and try more of the food, when i fully recover from this flu. Let me know if you enjoyed Matgalne!

P.S. Just got the news Matgalne ended the 10 percent off deal but dont be disappointed! The prices are no compare to other Korean Grills and they have a promo going on! Check out the comments below! :)
