Weekend Wonders

Hello guys! I have a lot going on this week, couldnt post anything as the laptop i was using was swept away (yes i am that poor. haha)

Now back to my lame and old computer that doesnt have a memory card reader so i have to buy one soon!

Last Friday was a holiday here in Manila, i kept on promoting to my friends that it was Rizal day, but it was Bonifacio day. excuses were made and I looked like an idiot! haha

My sister invited some friends over and we hosted a mini dinner party along with a bottle of asti and vodka so I believe a gathering with booze is called a party!

Dinner was good but i could improve. but it was a start. Next week we have another one so I'd be delighted this time to document that well as I have the whole week to prepare for it!

Here's a "collage" of it. the obedient Ingredient as I posted on instagram was baby arugula! I personally love arugula.

The sirloin though needed a little improvement but hey! nobody's perfect!

Antipasti at the top, amuse bouche at the left, entree at the right
I wanted a same color theme for the food.

Amuse Bouche was Tuna with Herbed Oil, Roasted Peppers and a Crispy Onion
Appetizer was Eggplant Parmigiana with Baby Arugula.
Entree was Grilled Sirloin Steak with Cauliflower Gratin, Rocket Salad and Compound Butter.

Sorry didn't take a photo of dessert. it was Eton Mess courtesy of my sister. was delicious we got good strawberries from S&R.

Loved the grilling pan my sister bought so decided to make pork steaks the following day.

Sorry for the crappy pic. this was just taken with our iPad. I have clear photos in my camera but sorry no card reader here! (i suck) I marinated my steaks with oregano, Worcestershire, cayenne pepper, rosemary and ketchup! You could also add some Dijon mustard to give it a good kick! then grilled my veggies rubbed them with some salt, olive oil and rosemary. Delish! Doesn't need steak sauce! This photo again was grabbed from my instagram. Cause I'm one of those people who take pics of their food before eating (yes loser here! haha)

Sunday is no different. me and my sisters love to whip up a good Sunday meal, my sister made pea and bacon soup, i made individual shepherds pie and the highlight of our meal is the chocolate truffle cake! Adapted the recipe from Buddy Valastro from his show Kitchen Boss. i was watching it last night and said I must make it! It was sublime!

Flourless Chocolate truffle Cake with Ice Cream

Again another Instagram Picture! haha cant believe I am a member of this food porn instagram people. But I just love sharing food photos!

The long weekend is full of food and it was great! Hope you guys had the same wonderful weekend as I did.

The only thing left to think of is whats for dinner tomorrow?

x
